Dupont Energain is a revolutionary new product developed to meet the need for responsible buildings which reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions. It is intended for use in low inertia buildings which companies which require additional global mass. Dupont Energain comes in thermal mass panels which are installed in the walls and ceilings of a room together with a mechanical ventilation system.
Here's how it works: explained simply, as the temperature in the room rises, the co-polymer compound in Dupont Energain changes. At 22deg Celsius inside the room the panels begin to absorb heat and slow down the temperature increase by up to 7deg Celsius; providing a significant improvement in comfort. As the temperature inside the room drops to 18deg Celsius, the compound changes again and the walls release heat back in to the room.
Dupont Energain panels contain a co-polymer and paraffin wax compound, as the wax melts it absorbs large amounts of heat. When temperatures fall again the wax solidifies and the heat is released. As well as the benefits of comfort, Dupont Energain provides many other long term benefits. Here's how it can save energy and reduce the running costs of the building.
Buildings that have a low thermal mass are at the mercy of solar gains and external temperature changes, so for example, with high incidence of sun radiation rooms warm up and need to be regulated with air conditioning systems which are used frequently in the warmer seasons. Air conditioning is expensive to install, run and maintain and is very environmentally un-friendly, but with Dupont Energain the story is quite different. The thermal mass panels regulate temperatures much more effectively which means that with Dupont Energain, buildings require smaller air conditioning systems which are used less frequently resulting in considerable savings; as much as a 35% on air conditioning costs alone, and because Dupont Energain helps to contain temperatures as they fall, savings can be gained on heating too.
There is however a bigger picture in terms of the impact on the environment. Traditionally, buildings use a lot of energy which requires burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas. As we've demonstrated, Dupont Energain reduces energy usage. By using less energy Dupont Energain also reduces the amount of CO2 emmitted in to the atmosphere. If every building had the Dupont Energain the CO2 emissions would be cut dramatically.
