The financial benefits associated with solar PV panels have been highlighted by one renewable energy expert.

According to British Eco Energy''s managing director Andrew Moore, the government''s recently announced feed-in tariff scheme might have positive implications for householders and companies alike.

He commented: ''Businesses up to now have not been doing an awful lot with these panels, because the return in investment has just not been there.''

However, Mr Moore added: ''This scheme will introduce that for the first time.''

While noting the popularity of solar panels among some of the UK''s European counterparts, the expert went on to note that the feed-in tariff initiative should make renewable energy more widely accessible.

He believes that it will no longer just be well-off homeowners who can afford to pay for the installation of green technologies.

Ministers'' feed-in tariff plans are set to be put into action from the beginning of April, it was recently confirmed.
