A shortlist of four locations has been unveiled for a new £3.6 billion wind farm off the coast of Lincolnshire, which may interest those considering greater use of sustainable construction and green building products.

BBC News reported that RWE Npower Renewables is planning to construct between 150 and 333 wind turbines 33km out to sea from the east coast.

Welton le Marsh is among the proposed sites being considered for the substation as well as areas near Willoughby, Monksthorpe and Little Steeping.

Jacob Hain, the development''s project manager, told the news provider that the sites are a ''suitable distance'' from people''s homes to reduce any potential impact of noise produced by the turbines.

He added that ''the substation won''t be manned, so there won''t be regular traffic going in and out,'' which should also ease any local concerns over how the sustainable construction may affect them.

Earlier this month, Nick Medic, head of communications at RenewableUK suggested that greater use of sustainable construction and wind power could bring a ''comprehensive set of benefits''.
