Ministers are aiming to widen the adoption of things like renewable energy devices by lowering the amount of planning bureaucracy that people have to deal with, it has been noted.
According to a Communities and Local Government department spokesperson, a number of steps are being taken to improve the green credentials of the country''s building stock.
He commented: ''The government is already taking action in terms of retrofitting existing buildings, improving future design standards and cutting red tape in the planning system for the installation of green energy solutions.''
When it comes to helping the environment by overcoming the threat of climate change, the spokesperson noted the role that the built environment must play in the near future.
Meanwhile, the British Property Federation has recently reiterated its belief that commercial properties such as shops should be required to possess display energy certificates.
It believes that these certificates could inspire more energy efficiency.
