Phase change material is a revolutionary form of insulation that takes the form of a wax compund stored in panels that can absorb or release heat into a room to sustain a comfortable temperature. The panels can be installed on walls and ceilings and works best in commercial buildings with large amounts of glass which makes them susceptible to solar gain. When a room is of a high temperature the compound melts which absorbs heat. When the room is cold, the solidifying compound releases heat; this process also reduces the need for mechanical ventilation, thereby saving on building running costs.
